New Year’s Eve is a riot for most of the population of LA, but those of us who have families probably want to dial it back a notch. It’s not the best thing to bring your children out to the clubs for wild dance parties.
Fortunately, there are tons of other wholesome family-oriented celebrations that you can partake in with your children. Here are some of the best family New Year’s Eve celebrations you can find in LA.
Grand Park and The Music Center’s NYELA
For the seventh year, Los Angelos will celebrate its New Year’s Eve Los Angeles festivities that rival those of any other in the country.
There are two stages providing a variety of different entertainment, videos and light shows will be projected all over the buildings downtown, the whole city turns into a massive dance party, and the best part? It’s all free!
LA Zoo Lights
One of the most exciting family-oriented New Year festivities that you can find on the East Side of LA is the Zoo Lights festivities. This year, the lights actually started on November 5th, and they’ll continue until January 5th.
However, the celebration is particularly wild on New Year’s Eve. The zoo is already heavily lit up, and they bring in a DJ, lots of games and rides, and even a dinner buffet serving foods good for the whole family.
ICE at Santa Monica
If you’re wandering the Third Street Promenade on New Year’s Eve, you might think you’re hallucinating if you stumble upon a massive ice rink. Rest assured, what you’re seeing is real = on New Year’s Eve, you can practice (or show off) your skating skills here with your whole family for only $15.
Magicopolis – Escape Reality
Another family favorite from the West end is the New Year’s Eve Magicopolis show. For $65, you’ll be able to see one of the most acclaimed magic shows: Escape Reality. Included in the price are some pizza, a bag of tricks and noisemakers, a magic class, drinks, popcorn, ‘surprises,’ and some champagne at midnight for the parents chaperoning their children.
Kidspace Balloon Drop – Noon Year’s Eve
If you’re looking for something to do with your kids in the San Gabriel Valley, then hit up the “Noon Year’s Eve” Balloon Drop at the Kidspace Children’s Museum. This event is catered towards families who don’t want to encourage their kids to stay up to midnight, instead opting to celebrate at noon on the 31st.
There are going to be two live DJs this year, tons of noisemakers, and party hats. Try to show up before 11 if you want to be a part of the countdown!
New Year’s Eve Musical Revue
Located in the Santa Monica Playhouse, this annual festival offers a lot to parents and kids. The evening is started with an all-you-can-eat buffet, followed by a fantastic musical revue that’s great for all ages.
Included are sing-along songs, prizes, and great humor sure to make you and your kids bust a gut with laughter.
